3/2013: Here we go again
‘Sustainability of cutting-edge technologies in the ophthalmic industry and labs’ was the topic on the 14th MAFO – The Conference in Milan. The conference was divided into four sessions under the headings ‘Coating Technologies’, ‘Industry & Lab Consultancy’, ‘Lens Technology’ and ‘Production Lines’. Twelve experts from the international ophthalmic industry provided historical backgrounds, practical examples and a lot of explanations in their themes.
In addition the MAFO editors visited for you SIOF in Shanghai (China), MIDO in Milan (Italy) and VEE (New York) and will give you a short overview about interesting things as well as insights there.
Furthermore you will find an article of Thomas Zangerlé called ‘Process control and lens inspection of FreeForm lenses’. In his article he explains why digital surfacing has been a tremendous breakthrough for the ophthalmic industry. By using digital surfacing a lab has to rethink several points to keep the quality constant — one of them is the lens inspection.
