3/2012: Interdependence

In this year MAFO – The Conference handled without FreeForm. The four main topics were process control‚ mineral glass, tooling as well as automation & coating. Eleven experts from the international ophthalmic optics industry presented methods for optimizing the production process for lens manufacture.
Internationally active: the MAFO editors visited for you SIOF in Shanghai (China) and Mido in Milan (Italy). Read in the trade show reports what we explore for you. Additionally to the trade shows we went to the sensational inauguration of the new Schneider headquarters at Fronhausen (Germany).
Moreover MAFO was allowed to take a look behind the scenes at the solution provider to the spectacle industry: Automation & Robotics. During the visit Christian Closset, Helmut Ahn and Sandra Fonticoli demonstrated that strength comes from inner calmness. The solution provider showed what they can do with meters of cable and bars of aluminum, thousands of nuts and bolts and everything else for the spectacle industry.
Based on the lecture given at MAFO – The Conference Dr. Gareth Wakefield wrote an interesting article about coatings which are based on nanoparticles incorporated into a binder system.
